The MG-640 supports larger media up to 64 inches wide and can handle heavier rolls (up to 40 kg), whereas the MG-300 is designed for narrower media up to 30 inches and handles up to 25 kg rolls. This makes the MG-640 better suited for wide-format signage and vehicle wraps, while the MG-300 is ideal for packaging prototypes and label production.
While the MG Series is designed primarily for roll-fed materials, it can handle semi-rigid substrates up to 1.0 mm thick with an optional extension table. This allows for short-run packaging and mock-ups on card stock or similar materials.
The MG Series supports gloss and white inks, allowing for raised textures, simulated embossing, spot varnish, and matte/gloss effects. These features enhance visual appeal and tactile interaction, particularly for labels and premium packaging.
The integrated contour cutter allows for precise cutting around printed graphics. It eliminates the need for manual trimming, streamlining production of decals, stickers, and heat transfers.
Yes, the ECO-UV EUV5 inks are GREENGUARD Gold certified, which means they emit low levels of chemicals and are safe for use in indoor environments, including schools and healthcare facilities.
Compatible media include vinyl, PET film, banner, paper, canvas, synthetic paper, and more. The printer’s UV-curable inks adhere well to coated and uncoated substrates, making it highly versatile.
The MG Series comes with Roland VersaWorks 6 RIP software. It includes features such as variable data printing, color matching tools, and support for specialty effects like textures and spot gloss.
A take-up unit is optional and recommended for long print runs or unattended operation. It ensures smooth winding of printed material and helps maintain print alignment.
Thanks to UV-LED technology, the MG Series consumes significantly less energy than traditional curing systems. It uses around 250W during operation and 40W in standby, reducing electricity costs.
Routine maintenance includes daily cleaning of printheads, ink system checks, and periodic replacement of wiper blades and cleaning cartridges. The machine provides prompts to help ensure consistent performance and minimize downtime.
